Sommo — The All-in-One AI Wine App

Sommo is a native app for iPhone, iPad, and Android, made for serious wine drinkers, students, and the curious in between. It combines four products wine enthusiasts usually piece together themselves: an AI label scanner, a smart wine cellar, a personal tasting journal, and a full WSET exam-prep suite. Everything runs on the same engine, which is the point. That engine is a wine-tuned AI that Gökhan Arkan builds and owns himself, not a frontier chatbot rented per query. He started by fine-tuning a model on a curated wine corpus (professional reviews, structured ratings, regional and food-pairing data) and has been refining it weekly since. Underneath sits a hand-maintained library of canonical wines, wineries, regions, and grape varieties that every recommendation is checked against, so the wineries Sommo names are wineries that actually exist. Because the model is owned rather than rented, there is no per-query tax to pass on, which is how Premium can sit at $2.50/month yearly or $5/month rolling. For students, Sommo ships full WSET Level 1 to 4 prep with flashcards, choice and typed practice modes, mock exams, and AI-generated study plans. For drinkers, the gamified journey awards XP across ten levels from "Curious Sipper" to "Master Sommelier", with an interactive map covering 1,000+ wine regions across 40+ countries. The whole app is localised in nine languages, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, and Chinese in both Simplified and Traditional, with the learning content and request-time AI writing translated alongside the interface, while grape, region, and appellation names keep their canonical spelling. Sommo is on iPhone and iPad today, with a native Android app now live on Google Play and a HarmonyOS version to follow (waitlist at sommo.app/harmonyos).
