TinyRec

TinyRec is a native macOS screen recorder built around how tutorials and demo videos actually get made. It is aimed at people who produce instructional or product content, such as developers, makers, and educators, and who want a recorder and editor in one app instead of stitching together separate tools. The app is organized around a script-first workflow: you break a video into scenes and type the lines for each one, then record scene by scene so that re-recording a single line is a keypress rather than restarting the whole session. Capture runs natively on macOS at 60fps with cursor, camera, and microphone. Editing features include motion-tracked auto-zoom that follows clicks and pans with the cursor without manual keyframes, cursor smoothing, and AI voiceover that turns typed text into a natural voice track timed to your scenes. Whisper transcribes narration locally to generate subtitles. What makes TinyRec distinct is that everything runs on your machine: recording, transcription, and export all happen locally, and nothing leaves your Mac unless you choose to share it, so there is no cloud upload and no per-minute transcription charge. The export pipeline is a native Rust binary, with 4K renders described as typically 2 to 3 times faster than the source video. The free tier includes the full editor and 1,000 voice credits, while Pro removes the watermark and refreshes 50,000 voice credits each month.
