What is directory submission automation?
The Claude Directory Submission Skill is a Claude Code skill (from $79), with an AGENTS.md for Codex, Devin and Cursor, that turns your agent into a directory submission agent. It picks from up to 1,354 checked directories and launchpads by fit, DR and automation score, writes the copy, and submits in a real browser. You handle sign-ins, CAPTCHAs and a quick yes.
Directory submission means listing your product on sites that catalogue software: launch platforms, AI tool directories, startup and SaaS directories, web directories and niche lists. Each accepted listing can bring a backlink, referral visitors and a page people find when they compare tools. Automating it means an AI agent does the forms, while you keep the decisions and the sign-ins.
How the skill submits your product
- 1. Research your product. The agent reads your live site (and your repo, when it runs inside it), asks you for anything it cannot find, and fills in a product brief you confirm once. It checks you have what directories ask for (logo, screenshots, pricing, privacy policy) and writes copy per directory type, facts only.
- 2. Pick the directories. It filters the list by fit, Domain Rating, automation score, price and badge rules, skips closed sites and, unless you say otherwise, paid-only ones, and shows you the plan first.
- 3. Submit in a real browser. One directory at a time, in a visible browser you can watch. It fills the form, shows you the values and submits once you say yes. Sign-ins, CAPTCHAs and 2FA are handed to you. It never pays.
- 4. Learn and report. Each result goes into a tracker, it writes a short map of every site for next time, and it ends with a report: counts, live links and what is left for you.
What each directory row tells your agent
- Domain Rating
- Ahrefs DR at the check date, so the agent can put strong sites first.
- Automation score
- 1 to 10: how easily an agent can submit. 10 is a public form with no login; 1 means the site was down or closed at the check, and the agent skips it.
- Pricing
- Free, free + paid or paid-only, with the cheapest paid tier where one was found. Unknown for 85 rows.
- Badge rule
- Whether a backlink badge is needed to be listed, for the free tier, or for dofollow, where the check could tell.
- Login and sign-in
- Whether an account is needed, and which sign-in methods the site offers (Google, email, none), where known.
- Submit URL
- Where submission starts: the form, a sign-in page or the pricing page. Empty for 49 rows, where the agent starts from the homepage.
- Form details
- CAPTCHA type, uploads and number of form steps, where known.
- Notes and dofollow
- Practical notes from the check, and the link type directory lists report.
Directory list by type and package
- AI product directories408
- Web directories376
- Niche directories203
- Startup and SaaS directories199
- Launchpads168
Counts are for Complete (1,354 directories). Starter is the 118 directories that score 8+ and have DR 40+; Pro is all 339 that score 8+.
Why directories ask for a badge
Many directories list you for free, or give a dofollow link, only if your site links back with their badge. The badge kit is one “Featured on” component (a React server component and a static HTML generator) that renders the badges for the badge-gated directories in your package: 65 in Starter, 102 in Pro, 313 in Complete. A checker tells you whether each directory's verifier will see the badge on your live page.
Using it with Claude Code, Codex, Devin and Cursor
- Claude Code
- Unzip into ~/.claude/skills, connect a browser (Claude in Chrome, Chrome DevTools MCP or Playwright MCP) and say "Submit yourproduct.com to directories". The skill loads by itself.
- Codex
- Unzip into your project, add Chrome DevTools MCP or Playwright MCP to your Codex config, and ask it to follow AGENTS.md.
- Devin
- Commit the folder to the repo Devin works in, or upload the zip. It follows AGENTS.md; you sign in and clear CAPTCHAs in its interactive browser.
- Cursor
- Unzip into your workspace, add a browser MCP and ask Cursor’s agent to follow directory-submission/AGENTS.md. Move the included rule into your project’s .cursor/rules/ and it picks the playbook up by itself.
- Any browser-use agent
- Anything that can read files and control a browser or a computer can follow AGENTS.md. Windsurf and Cline work like Cursor.
Who it is for, and who it is not for
- Founders with one or more products to list on directories and launchpads
- Agencies and freelancers running launches for clients (the license allows it)
- You use Claude Code, Codex, Devin or Cursor, or want a good reason to start
- You would rather watch what is submitted in your name than read a report later
- You want zero involvement: you still sign in, clear CAPTCHAs and OK each submit
- Your agent has no browser or computer use; it needs one to submit anything
- You expect guaranteed listings or dofollow links: every directory decides for itself
- You want to resell or share the list: the license is for one user
