About ReplayChess
ReplayChess turns chess history into something you play instead of watch. Pick a famous game from 50+ legends (Morphy, Fischer, Kasparov, Carlsen and more) or any of 3,600+ ECO-coded openings, start from the critical position, and play it out for real against a friend, a rated opponent or Stockfish running in your browser at four strengths. Afterwards a divergence report shows your match rate against the original moves and the first move where you left the grandmaster's line, with a practice mode to retry the position.
Built for club and online players in the 800-2000 range, coaches who want to hand a student a specific position, and developers curious about a working real-time multiplayer app. Rating-based matchmaking, time controls, private challenge links that a friend can open without an account, tournaments, and a PWA that installs on phones and desktops.
Free to play with no ads; a Player plan ($4.99/month) unlocks the full legend and opening catalogue. MIT-licensed on GitHub, built with Next.js 15, React 19, Prisma on PostgreSQL, Socket.IO and Stockfish WASM.
