Launching a design product here
Everything else on this site can get away with a mediocre thumbnail. This category cannot. A visitor decides in about a second whether your tool produces work they would ship, and the only evidence available at that moment is your image. Lead with output, not with the interface that made the output.
If you sell assets rather than software, say what the buyer gets and in what format. Figma file or Sketch file, editable vector or flattened PNG, licence for one project or unlimited. Missing formats are the most common reason a designer bounces off an otherwise good listing, and it costs one line to fix.
Tools that generate visuals live or die on how the results look when someone who is not you uses them. Show a range that includes a mediocre case. A grid of six perfect outputs reads as cherry-picking; five good ones and an honest note about where it struggles reads as a product someone actually uses.
What a strong design listing includes
- Output, shown at a size where the detail survives
- File formats and the software they open in
- Licence terms, especially for commercial use
- A free sample, a demo file, or a trial that produces something real
Questions founders ask about Design Tools
Can I list a paid asset pack?
Yes. Icon sets, UI kits, templates, and font families are all normal here as long as there is a page where someone can see and buy them.
Do I need my own domain, or is a Gumroad page enough?
A marketplace page is fine as a destination. It does limit what a link back to you is worth, since the authority lands on the marketplace rather than on you, which is worth weighing if backlinks are part of why you are listing.
