About Loupe
Loupe is a browser extension and web scanner for checking websites against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 AA. It runs axe-core locally, highlights accessibility issues on the page, and explains failures in plain English, with optional AI-drafted code fixes. A web scanner is also available without installing the extension.
What Loupe does
Loupe scans web pages for machine-checkable accessibility issues against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 AA criteria using axe-core. It highlights problems in context and explains them in plain English, helping users find and address mechanical failures such as missing alt text, color contrast, and unlabelled form fields. It can also produce reports for clients. The page notes that automated testing catches only some WCAG problems and that human review is still needed.
A user opens a page in desktop Chrome and clicks the Loupe extension to run a scan on the current tab. The scan runs locally in the browser, then displays issues grouped by severity and highlights the affected elements. Each issue includes the failing rule, WCAG reference, and an explanation; users can optionally review an AI-drafted code fix. Users can crawl up to eight pages for a combined report, then export a PDF, with white-label branding available on the Agency plan.
Loupe is for people checking websites for accessibility issues, including solo users and agencies preparing client deliverables. The page describes a free option for solo use and paid plans with features such as PDF export, saved client projects, multi-page crawling, and agency branding. Its scans run in the browser, and the page emphasizes that URLs and scan results are not uploaded. It presents automated checks as a complement to, not a replacement for, human review.
