G2 free listing: what a vendor gets
G2 lists B2B software for free and ranks it on reviews. We read its vendor pages, plans and rules on October 7, 2026, and checked what a profile links to.

The short answer
Yes, G2 lists software for free. As of October 2026 you add or claim your product, G2's research team checks it in about 3 to 5 business days, and the free plan covers the profile, basic review collection and the Users Love Us badge once you earn it. The free profile has no link to your website: a Visit Website button comes only with an annual subscription or G2 Clicks, and it is a nofollow click tracker. Paid plans start at $299 a month, and a Grid report needs 10 reviews in a category.

What G2 is for a vendor
G2 is a review marketplace for business software. Buyers compare products in a category, read moderated reviews and check the Grid, which places each product by customer satisfaction and market presence. G2 says it is "not a pay-to-play ranking system", and its ads documentation says buying clicks has no effect on organic ranking. By its own count it reaches 100M+ buyers and holds more than 3 million reviews.
In 2026 G2 bought Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice from Gartner (announced January 29, completed by June) and now calls those three G2 Digital Markets. Its seller login says one account manages your profile across all four, so claiming G2 is also the first step on Capterra.
Is G2 dofollow?
No. A free G2 profile does not link to your website at all. Paid profiles get a Visit Website button, but it is a form that sends the visitor through G2's own click tracker with rel="nofollow noopener", so neither passes link equity.
How we checked: G2 answered our checker with a CAPTCHA on October 7, 2026, and we do not solve CAPTCHAs. So we read the raw HTML of G2 profiles captured by the Internet Archive between September 19 and October 4, 2026, next to G2's documentation from the check date.
Free profiles (AddCal, Acsellerate, Mortar and Access360), each "Claimed" with "limited features", had no link or button pointing to the vendor's site. The pages were indexable and canonical to themselves; two other free profiles with zero reviews, 1C EV Charging and Achiya Automation, were set to "follow, noindex".
Paid profiles (HubSpot Marketing Hub, Notion and 1EXIGER.AI) show Visit Website as a GET form to g2.com/external_clickthroughs/record, with your URL in a hidden field and a nofollow rel on the form. G2's documentation calls these clicks "Website Redirects from G2"; its G2 Clicks page says Clicks adds the referral links and that annual subscribers get organic clicks at no extra cost. The badge rules point the other way: showing the Users Love Us badge requires a backlink from your site to G2.

G2 pricing for vendors
As of October 2026, G2 prints prices for Free and Starter; Professional and Enterprise go through sales.
Buyer Intent, content licensing and Paid Promotions are add-ons sold through sales. The plans page also says you do not have to pay to be on a Grid.

How to get a free G2 listing
Free, with two approvals: G2 checks the product (about 3 to 5 business days, by its own estimate), then checks that you work for the vendor (1 to 3).
- Check that G2 will take it B2B software and services only. G2 does not accept B2C products or products in alpha or beta, and plug-ins usually do not get a listing of their own.
- Search before you add Start at G2's "Find your product" page. A duplicate submission is rejected, so check whether the product is already listed under another name.
- Submit the product form If the product is missing, fill in the product form. Keep your website online: an unreachable site is one of the rejection reasons G2 lists.
- Claim the profile Hover over Unclaimed on the profile and choose Claim this profile. The seller login asks you to validate through LinkedIn or a business email.
- Fill in my.G2 Logo, description, screenshots, pricing and features. The product name must match your website, with no marketing terms. G2 assigns categories by features, and changing them goes through support.
- Invite every customer Send your review link to all customers, not a hand-picked list, and keep it out of public posts. Each review spends up to 3 business days in moderation.

Where SaaSCity fits next to G2
SaaSCity is our own directory, a launch directory rather than a review site, and it covers two things a new G2 profile cannot. The listing link becomes dofollow once our badge is on your homepage, and the free route gives you a launch week from a Monday slot (15 free slots a week) while you collect your first reviews. Quick Pass ($19.99) skips the queue and the badge after a human review. Our DR is 66 (Ahrefs).
G2 review rules that matter to vendors
From G2's community guidelines, read on October 7, 2026.
Incentives are capped at $100
Gift cards, cash, swag or credits up to $100 per review are allowed if the reward does not depend on the rating. G2 labels these reviews, gives unincentivized ones more weight and wants any incentive you pay yourself disclosed.
Invite everyone
Filtering out unhappy customers, tying a reward to a positive review or discouraging negative ones counts as biased collection, and G2 removes those reviews.
Real users only
Reviewers sign in with LinkedIn, a verified business email or a personal email G2 can validate. Your staff and a direct competitor's staff cannot review you.
AI drafting has conditions
Only LinkedIn-verified reviewers, people on a list you supplied or reviewers inside your product may draft with AI.
Penalties are public
G2 can block new reviews and listings, revoke my.G2 access, put a warning banner on your profile, remove reviews or ban the product.
Is G2 worth it for a SaaS?
Yes, if you sell to businesses and have customers who will review you. The listing is free and checked by a person, and a profile with real reviews is a page many B2B buyers open before a demo. The same login now covers Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice.
Do not list it for SEO: the free profile has no link and the paid button is a nofollow redirect. Hold off on Starter until you have reviews, too. The Grid needs 10 in a category, and an empty profile tells a buyer nothing.
Good fit
- B2B SaaS with ten or more customers to ask for reviews
- Categories where buyers compare vendors on G2 Grids
- Sales teams that want a third-party review page to share
Skip it if
- You sell to consumers: G2 rejects B2C products
- The product is in alpha or beta
- You are after a backlink
- You have no customers to ask yet

G2 FAQ
- Is G2 free for software vendors?
- Yes. As of October 2026 the free plan includes a basic profile, a seller page, basic review collection and the Users Love Us badge once earned. The first paid plan, Starter, costs $299 a month or $2,999 a year.
- How long does it take to get listed on G2?
- As of October 2026, G2 says its research team verifies a new product in about 3 to 5 business days and approves a claim within 1 to 3. Each review then takes up to 3 business days in moderation.
- How many reviews do you need on G2?
- None to be listed. As of October 2026, a Grid report needs 10 reviews in a category, and the Users Love Us badge needs 20 averaging 4.0 stars. In the archived copies we read, free profiles with zero reviews were noindex.
- Can I give customers a gift card for a G2 review?
- Yes, as of October 2026: up to $100 per review, for an honest review whatever the rating and disclosed to G2. The review is labeled as incentivized, and inviting only happy customers is not allowed.
- Does a G2 listing help SEO?
- Not through a link: the free profile has none, and the paid button runs through G2's tracker with rel="nofollow noopener". G2 pitches AI visibility instead and says its reviews are cited five times more often in AI answers, by its own count.
- Does a G2 account also cover Capterra?
- Yes. Since G2 bought Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice in 2026 (announced January 29, completed by June), its seller login says one account manages your profile on all four, and Capterra's Get your product listed button opens G2's form.
- Is SaaSCity an alternative to G2?
- Not for reviews. SaaSCity is our own launch directory: a launch week (15 free slots a week) and a link that turns dofollow with our badge, or without it on Quick Pass ($19.99).
